Video transcript: Hi, and welcome to Sign Baby Sign. This week’s word is “Walk”. There are several different ways to do this one so I will show you variations. One is where you take your flat hands like this for them to become your feet, to “walk”. Another “walk” would be a classifier, as we call it, this becomes the person walking. If you have two people walking it could be like this. Also another walking could be the “V” like this, this could be their feet, to “walk”.

12 Tips for Walking the Dog

1. Use a dog leash that works best with your pet: retractable, long or short.
2. Use appropriate collar-regular, trainer, or a harness.
3. Use poop bags; it’s just the right thing to do.
4. Dog tags or microchip will be of helpful if your pet gets away.
5. Dog’s feet can burn. If it’s hot for you, it’s hot for your pet.
6. Be aware of your surroundings and change your route if needed.
7. Avoid other animals. You don’t know the other animal’s nature.
8. Your dog should never pull or “walk” you. Take a class if needed.
9. Train during your walk to: stop, go, left, right, sit, stay, etc.
10. Moving the collar up right behind the ears will give you better control.
11. If the lead is around your thumb and the dog pulls quickly, you could injure your thumb. Hold     the leash with four fingers through the loop for more strength.
12. Remember, you are the pack leader.

You can teach  your dog commands with sign language.  See the video.

If you don’t have a dog, take a family walk.
