Video transcript: Hi, and welcome to Sign Baby Sign. This week’s word has to do with the fun of asking your child where something is. The word is “where”. W-H-E-R-E. You would do this by taking your index finger and shaking it left to right. In true ASL structure order sentence, you would lean forward and squint your eyes. If you were asking a rhetorical sentence, your eyebrows would be up.

Teach your child to sign “where” with hide-n-seek game as a review game using other signs they know. Pick the place ahead of time and review the sign. You will be teaching “where” and additional signs as you play. For example, sign the rhetorical “Where is Dad?” Then give the answer in sign only “bed”. Your child then find’s dad on the bed. Have fun!

Post your creative sign game ideas. We want to learn from you.
