Hand Shape: both hands have the pointer and the middle finger fully extended while the remainder fingers are folded under
Location: in front of your chest
Tip: one tap of the fingers is a noun and two becomes a verb
Action: tap your extended fingers from your right hand on top of the left at the knuckle

Video transcript: Hi and welcome to Sign Baby Sign. This week’s word is “sit”. (demonstrates) You would do a one tap for “sit”.

Bonus: Sample sentence: “Hey do you mind, the chair over there-go ahead and sit.” So you saw the difference between the two taps and the one tap…one being the noun, which would be two taps, and the verb would be the one tap.

10 Tips to Better Posture

  1. Keep both feet on the floor as much as possible. Avoid crossing your legs.
  2. Sit with your back touching the back of the chair.
  3. Add a pillow for your lower back if you need extra support.
  4. Sit upright with shoulders back and chin in line with chest.
  5. Keep your head up and forward with occasional neck stretches.
  6. Have your chair close to the table to avoid leaning over.
  7. Every 30 minutes, stand up and move around.
  8. Be aware of your posture in different settings (work/school, home and play).
  9. Avoid clinching your muscles. You should maintain an overall relaxed posture to avoid increasing your pain.
  10. Set a timer for every 20-30 minutes to remind yourself to access and adjust your current posture.
